Displaced Household 2BR | Near Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland

Temporary housing for a displaced household in Fairfax, Cleveland: a furnished two bedroom apartment about ten minutes' walk from Cleveland Clinic, ready for a family that had to leave home after a fire, a flood or a building order.

The space
Six people can sleep here across two queen bedrooms and a sofa that opens into a queen bed. Two full bathrooms, and closets with hangers and shelving so whatever you did manage to bring has somewhere to go. Blackout blinds in both bedrooms help the household sleep at whatever hours it can manage in the first week. The kitchen is stocked to run a household: quartz counters, stainless appliances, a dishwasher, a stove and oven, a microwave, a toaster, pots, pans, glasses and silverware. Laundry is in the apartment. Hardwood floors, an open living and dining area with oversized windows, a bar with stools, and desk space for the claim calls, the school notes and the list of everything that has to be replaced.

The neighborhood
Fairfax is residential and connected, so daily life keeps working while you sort out the rest. Cleveland Clinic's main campus is a five to ten minute walk if someone in the household works or is treated there, and Case Western Reserve University is two minutes by car. Meijer Fairfax Market is a five minute walk, a full grocery store with a coffee shop, which is where most families start when they arrive with nothing. It is an ordinary residential neighborhood with sidewalks and a grocery store, which is most of what people want after a week of upheaval.
